Boylston Market is built.

Architect: Charles Bulfinch. It is located at the corner of Washington Street and Boylston Street at today’s 2 Boylston Street. The market serves the town’s original South End and its upstairs hall subsequently hosts concerts, museum exhibits and occasional plays. becomes home to the Handel and Haydn Society for 22 years. The building is enlarged in 1859, moved back from the street in 1870, and demolished in 1887.
